Heritage and Surrounding Area

Whitchurch is the oldest town in Shropshire famous for its Tower Clocks established by J.B. Joyce in 1690, their clocks can be seen all over the world, and the business continues in Whitchurch today.
Shropshire can boast the World Heritage Site at Ironbridge Gorge where the Industrial Revolution began. You can visit various National Trust Properties at Attingham Park, Powis and Chirk Castles, Erddig and Styal Mill. Further south there is Boscabel House, Weston Park and Wroxeter Roman Villa.
Shrewsbury famous for Charles Darwin, its magnificent Flower Show (and Percy Thrower). Follow in the footsteps of the medieval sleuthing monk Cadfael created by Ellis Peters, where you can take a guided walking tour.
Roman City of Chester with its Rows and Cathedral and lots of antique shops to browse in.

There are lovely walks at Brown Moss and around the mere or glacial at Ellesmere.

Colemere Country Park
A gentle stroll around this glacial mere with lots of birdlife to watch.

You can pick up the Sandstone Trail at Grindley Brook Locks just north of Whitchurch or enjoy the towpath walks along thr Shropshire Union Canal, a liquid highway to Telford's stupendous aqueduct.
